چکیده
Glaucoma is the second cause of irreversible blindness in world. Intraocular pressure (IOP) a recognized major risk factor for development and progression glaucomatous damage. Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) internationally accepted as gold standard measurement IOP. The purpose this study was to search correlations between corneal mechanical properties thickness by means vitro tests. IOP measured tonometer (GIOP), transducer inserted anterior chamber eye (TIOP), at increasing levels addition saline solution enucleated pig eyes (n = 49). Mechanical were also determined inflation GAT underestimated real measurements made transducer, with most common differences range 15–28 mmHg. difference two instruments, highlighted Bland–Altman test, confirmed ANOVA, normality tests, Mann–Whitney’s both on data arranged infusions organized ranges. Pearson correlation tests revealed negative (TIOP-GIOP) stiffness thickness. In conclusion, obtained showed discrepancy GIOP TIOP more evident softer thinner corneas, that very important glaucoma detection.

Tonometry in corneal edema after cataract surgery: dynamic contour tonometry versus Goldmann applanation tonometry
INTRODUCTION Intraocular pressure (IOP) determination using dynamic contour tonometry (DCT) has been considered to be independent of central corneal thickness (CCT), while Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) is known to be influenced by various corneal properties. In this study, IOP was measured before and 1 day after cataract surgery using GAT and DCT to investigate the possible effects of co...
متن کاملThe relative effects of corneal thickness and age on Goldmann applanation tonometry and dynamic contour tonometry.
AIMS To establish the effects of central corneal thickness (CCT) on intraocular pressure (IOP) measured with a prototype Pascal dynamic contour tonometer (DCT), to evaluate the effect of CCT and age on the agreement between IOP measured with the Pascal DCT and Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), and to compare the interobserver and intraobserver variation of the DCT with the GAT. METHODS GA...
متن کاملComparison of Goldmann applanation tonometry and Pascal dynamic contour tonometry in relation to central corneal thickness and corneal curvature
PURPOSE The aim of the study was to assess the influence of central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal curvature in tonometry measurements taken by Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and Pascal dynamic contour tonometry (DCT). METHODS This was a prospective study of 185 eyes from 97 subjects, attending outpatient ophthalmology appointments, who underwent intraocular pressure measurements b...
متن کاملComparison Between Dynamic Contour Tonometry and Goldmann Applanation Tonometry
PURPOSE To compare the intraocular pressures (IOPs) measured by dynamic contour tonometry (DCT) and Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT), and to investigate the association of IOPs on eyes of varying central corneal thickness (CCT). METHODS In this prospective study, 451 eyes of 233 subjects were enrolled. IOPs were measured by GAT and DCT. CCT was measured three times and the average was cal...

PURPOSE To investigate the changes in Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) measurements with corneal edema induced by contact lenses. METHODS Twenty-five healthy, normal subjects (age, 23 ± 2 years) had central corneal radius (CCR), ORA, GAT, and central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements performed in both eyes before a thick, soft hydrogel contact lens wa...
